One Piece is the best selling manga/comic of all time, beating even Superman. So it is fair to say that the franchise is known and loved by otakus everywhere. The franchise is set to celebrate their 20th anniversary for the Anime, and they are doing it in style. One Piece is releasing a new movie which includes a member of the Pirate King’s crew. If this alone is not enough to hype you up, then there is Hancock, Fujitora, Smoker, Supernovas, Rob Lucci, and our lord and savior Buggy Sama too.
Currently, while the Anime is adapting the Wano Arc, the previous two episodes set up the story for the movie. No significant information is provided, but the hype is real for the upcoming film. The film showcases the title as a Party, by the pirates, for the pirates. The story will include a treasure hidden by Pirate King Gol D. Roger. The movie is going to be written by the original manga writer Eiichiro Oda. The One Piece manga has been running in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump since July 22, 1997.
The movie will be set amidst a pirates festival where many reunions will take place, and many fights will re-ignite. All the fans are eagerly expecting Boa Hancock and Monkey D. Luffy’s meeting. Speaking of Hancock, the recent teaser on the official twitter account of TOEI showcased only Boa Hancock, and fans are in love with the teaser.
The trailer of the movie showed Buena Festa, who is the festival organizer. He is trying to recruit Cidre(allegedly the greatest bounty hunter) by baiting Douglas aka “The Demon Heir” Bullet. Douglas has been formerly a part of the Roger Pirate crew. However, the total amount of bounty appearing in the festival is going to exceed 10 billion berries. The main standout Cidre vs. Bullet seems highly unlikely, if going by one piece standards.
The trailer showed a team full of surprises with the likes of Luffy, Lucci, Boa, Law, Sabo, and even Buggy Sama. The possibility of other additions to the team is likely. The trailer becomes even more hyped when we see Akainu, the current fleet Admiral, launch a buster call on the festival.
The movie is all set to release on August 9, 2019, in Japan. The global release date is still unknown. Eiichiro Oda the original mangaka said that he would have never approved a movie like stampede, if not for 20th anime anniversary. The movie is being directed by Otsuka Takashi, while Atsuhiro and Takashi are also the writers. The title song will be Gong by WANIMA. The cast includes Yusuke Santa playing as Festa, Rino Sashihara playing Ann, and Tsutomu Isobe playing Douglas. There are yet to be confirmed roles of YouTuber Fischer, Naoto Takenaka and Chinese singer Ron Monroe.
The movie was announced first after the release of Episode of Sky Island.
